Where the quail landed

It’s always nice to see where a finished project, given as a gift, ends up in its new home. This is one wall in Adrienne’s living room. The cabinetry and electric fireplace were improvements made by her after she moved in.

To the right, I love the California poppies pillow – a gift from her daughter Aly – which made me think Ade might like the embroidered quail pillow.

To the left, there’s the quail pillow. Looks great Ade.

The Last Wide Open

Terri and I went to the B Street Theater this afternoon. This one-act play was really good.

Before the play we had brunch from Cafe Bernardo but we sat in the lounge area of the Fort Sutter Hotel – they make a really good Irish coffee btw 🙂

391 miles

Jane and Barbara went for bike ride – no picture. On a different ride, Tracy took this picture of Rachel and Jim:

Meanwhile, a big group of us drove to Granite Bay to ride some rolling hills. Jonathan took this picture of Elaine, Agueda, Brenda, Maria, me, Stacey, Cheryl, Kathy, Sheila, Michael, and Dani. Minerva also rode.

There were two ride groups. Dani led the faster group who rode 30 miles. Kathy led another group who rode 23 miles. This was the first time for some cyclists riding rolling hills – North Natomas and all of Sacramento is flat. The non-e-bike riders also has a harder time, shifting was important.

We were all about 5 miles from the end of the ride when it began to sprinkle, then rain. Despite being wet and cold, we all had a great time. And a couple more people are thinking an e-bike might be a good idea.

Showing Grandma some love

Today, I picked up Sophia, Avery and Carson after school. At one point, we were all involved in our individual activities except for Carson and I periodically taking away a parade of toy animals Charlie had chosen from the toy box. This is the look I got when I took away the giraffe:

At our farthest point, it began to rain. We were all a little wet by the end of our 13-mile ride back. Nevertheless, it was a great ride.

A complete bike

Eleven months ago, I bought a Trek Allant but it had a faulty latch on the battery case and an immediate warranty issue. Midtown Trek ordered a new Allant but it would take many months to arrive and let me ride a very nice loaner for about 5 months. The Allant arrived last fall but with a broken fork, another fork was ordered. The next fork did not have the same paint job as the rest of the bike, but they put it on anyway so I could ride. Today I picked up my bike, a now-properly finished bike with a great paint job that glitters in the sun. I had to go for a ride in the afternoon.

Saturday Bike Party organized by Coletha. Shelf-stable food was donated to Joey’s Food Locker serving families in N Natomas. Ozzie came to pick up the donations and tell us a bit about the program.

Thanks for riding today: Brenda, Minerva, Yingce, Rachel, Jim, and Carol for riding today. After the main ride, a few of us rode over to the E Levee Rd to check out the flooding from Steelhead Creek and see the Hansen Ranch Park site. Picture taken by the shadow.
