Making a float

Tomorrow is the Rio Linda Country Faire. Calvary Lutheran has always had a float in the Saturday parade. This year I borrowed Justin’s truck and a trailer from one of his friends (whose name is also Justin). The first stop was at CLC to load the bell into the bed of the truck.

The guys: Jim Williams, a helpful neighbor, Patrick Thorne, Spencer Thorne.

At Don and Leone’s house, a crew arrived to decorate.

VBS Sunday morning

Today’s church service was held in the social hall with a brunch break in the middle. The kids from Vacation Bible School participated in all parts of the service.I was so happy Odin and Kellen came and participated.

VBS at CLC

This week, I did the storytelling part of Vacation Bible School at Calvary Lutheran Church. A little reminder that it’s a good thing to be a retired teacher. The day started and ended with Pastor Kirsten. There were 3 rotations of different age groups. Aiden as Jesus “on” the cross.Kellen as Pilate directing his helper to put one of the criminals on a cross next to Jesus.Jesus inside the tomb covered with “linen” – everyone wanted to go to see what that would look like.Closing up the tomb – hopefully Jesus’ feet were safe.Kyle and Odin were angels waiting for Sunday morning to announce, “He is alive!”The best part of the whole week was getting to spend it with grandsons Kellen and Odin!

First project completed

To get ready for Vacation Bible School at the end of July, I cut out lots of pictures, glued them onto foam board, and cut out the shapes again with a utility knife.Coolers and styrofoam boxes covered with “stone” plastic table covers will be fortress walls. The washing machine NOT in the laundry room is the subject of the next blog post 😦Crown and Ark of the Covenant finished:

Crafting Saturday

at Calvary Lutheran. Thank you to seven ladies who came to Crafting Saturday. There were four different crafts, all relevant to Vacation Bible School in July and the Reformation Party in October. We made lavender sachet samples, four medieval chandeliers out of poster board and toilet paper rolls,

Mackenzie was the youngest participant.

and learned how to cut Luther’s Rose. The fourth craft was an illuminated letter, but turned into an at-home project for a few of us.
