Reformation Celebration
Two days until the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Today Calvary celebrated with good food and friendship.

Community meal
On the fourth Saturday of every month, Calvary Lutheran hosts a Community Meal in the Social Hall.
Chili, bread, green salad, fruit cocktail,
and dessert.
After it was over, we changed the room over for the Reformation Party tomorrow.

In between everything else, I managed to finish Avery’s Halloween costume. He will be a Charizard: a Pokemon dragon.

Soccer Saturday
Avery’s game was at the same time as Sophia’s but at a different field. Sophia, as defender, waiting for the action to come to her end of the field:

Project Ride Smart
This week was all street rides. I love my red groups. Mostly they still need to practice basic bike handling skills with minimal on-street maneuvers.
We took a little off-pavement path
where we discovered the place where Sponge Bob Squarepants lives with his friends according to the boys who described everything in detail.

Big Little Lies
Over the past 3 1/2 weeks, Adrienne and Phyl came over four times to watch the HBO series Big Little LiesWe had easy quick hors snacks the first three times. Tonight we had dinner before watching the final episode. (Note the in-progress Charizard costume lurking in the upper right corner.)
Phyl provided dessert for afterwards.

Crafting Saturday
Thank you to Joan, Deborah, Nicki, Leone, Nicki, Caitlin, Lorna, Jan, Rayna, and Makenzie who came to Crafting Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church to help prepare for the Reformation Party on September 29. Nicki, Jan, and Leone cut all the pieces needed to make a Luther’s Rose:

Finally we practiced how to mod-podge pieces of tissue paper onto this 48″ square piece of plexiglass of a Luther’s Rose.
Project Ride Smart
Monday: Uh-oh, over the weekend, the playground was repaved. We had to redraw four 10′ x 100′ lanes – as in bending over and drawing lines with chalk.

By Friday, we were doing the first on-street bike rides. Except for my red group. We stayed on the bike path.
Three notable students this week. At left, Natalie who wore ALL pink one day to raise breast cancer awareness. She said, “Breast cancer runs in my family and I want it to stop!” Ana, who must have some kind of natural athletic ability. She was a non-rider and came to the first coaching session. Within 30 minutes, she had taught herself how to ride. Pershing who saw me taking the picture and asked if he could be in it also. Of course!
