TGIF
at the Clubhouse. Three neighbors on my street, Crete Island Lane, hosted tonight’s get-together. The title was “From Crete Island to …” We each did a 5-minute slideshow presentation about our recent travels. We got very good advertising and there were a lot of people who attended. Yay.
So much food!
My slide show was about the Erie Canalway bike ride last summer. I brought my bike loaded with everything I would need for a 7-day bike ride.
Kirk and Holly Talon shared their Camino de Santiago walk last summer which started in Porto Portugal. Their backpacks are ready for their next Camino walk – they leave in a couple of weeks. Kirk has his guitar strapped to his backpack.
My next door neighbors, Colleen and Matt Harding, shared their walk on the Kumano Kodo trail in Japan.
Bicycle parking
Another bike ride today, about 22 miles with a stop at Target. They had no bicycle rack to lock up my bike so I had to get creative. I got the best parking spot ever! Love it.
Bookmark and pancakes
Sophia and Avery were excited to make me a bookmark – out of glue. Step one: use a plastic lid from a box and color a tray-like space. I wanted a rainbow bookmark.
Then you pour glue all over it and wait 3 days for it to completely dry. The colors soak up into the glue.
Time to make pancakes. Avery is great at measuring and mixing the ingredients and making sure the sugar hasn’t gone bad.
Sophia and Avery prefer their pancakes with syrup and iPads.
Carson prefers his with a side of whipped cream.

Sandman
Discovered on a bike ride around the community: a new-to-me game, Sandman. I saw a group of 6 high schoolers on this play structure. Everyone was moving around silently, I stopped to watch. Later they explained. The person who is “it” must close their eyes when moving around on the structure trying to tag someone else, eyes open when feet are on the ground.
Ride leader training at Jibe
Veteran LCIs and about-to-become LCIs got together today for some ride leader training at the Jibe office. Mellissa Meng was the organizer.
We spent 2 hours on bikes in small groups on the streets around Natomas Park Elementary practicing good teaching techniques. Hopefully Project Ride Smart will soon have some new instructors.
St Patrick’s Day
There was a dinner and entertainment at the lodge tonight.
Ade came with me! People are beginning to think Ade lives at Westshore too.

North American Handmade Bicycle Show at the Sacramento Convention Center. I helped with the SABA’s bike valet early Saturday morning.
Within a couple of hours, we had no more room.
Then we got a free pass to get into the show.
