The last evening to make final touches. After I whip-stitched the facing onto the waist band, other team members poked holes and added brads.

As it turned out the brads at the waist band came apart easily, so they were all removed in favor of small grommets. Practicing the skirt flipping reveal:

More triangles of vinyl flooring were added and the carpet circles were attached with brads.

Fingers are crossed that this actually works the way it’s envisioned. The skirt is really heavy and unwieldy.

Arranging the long narrow trapezoid pieces of vinyl flooring – except they go on the (white) wrong side of the circle skirt, not on the black side.
The circles were cut from a carpet square. It was decided additional triangles of vinyl flooring were needed to fill in the gaps.

IIDA (International Interior Design Association) Northern California is presenting the 9th annual MERGE 2019 Fashion Show. FIT FOR FUTURE! Thirteen design teams will use commercial interior products donated by sponsors to create wearable, futuristic fashions. Proceeds from the event go toward student scholarships. Thais’ company, LPAS, is competing and I was asked to participate. Yay! We met at Marcie and Michael’s house on Friday to figure out how to create Marcie’s design idea.
The beginning of a circle skirt using two kinds of vinyl fabric. There wasn’t enough of one fabric so the pieces had to be patched together.
Marcie has an amazing sewing/craft room with tons of storage. I could have written an entire blog post about this room, but I leave you with just one picture:

Bike rides
It’s been too hot to ride lately, but on Friday the high was in the low 80s so I invited the Four Seasons Westshore bicycle-interest group on a couple of rides that I’ve done before. It was windy and rather chilly at 8 am for the first ride. My neighbor Lorraine rode the 4-mile Public art ride #1:
The second ride came next: 6-mile Public art ride #2. My next door neighbor Colleen came on this ride. 
On Saturday morning, Helen arrived at 8 am for a 7-mile ride to the Natomas Farmers Market. A 20-mph north wind was blowing – ugh – the tailwind part of our ride was quite nice, but the headwind part was a challenge.
The fresh spring peas were worth it!
Sophia, Avery & Carson
Sophia and Avery have a full schedule: summer school and various camps. Lenin plots it out on a spreadsheet. The programs usually end at noon, so we have long afternoons with swimming
and cooking. Avery wanted to make the pinwheel cookies. I got all the ingredients out and asked Avery what parts he wanted to help with. As it turned out, he only wanted to put the food coloring into the dough, help cut the slices (because he wanted to eat the uneven raw dough ends) and put the sticks in. Hurray! I got to take my time and roll the rectangle into a perfect 4 x 8-inch rectangle.
Meanwhile Sophia researched online then created and practiced:
Later, Carson used a huge pool noodle to try to hit the pitch I tossed to him. He was occasionally overwhelmed by the pool noodle.

5 am: Dave and Phyl left. They planned to drive straight through, about 16 hours of driving, to Deer Lodge, MT.
