A perfect day with late afternoon surprise visits from Justin and Lucy (with champagne!) which, later, meant I couldn’t go to Meatball Monday with Elaine. Also many messages from cousins in Canada and across the US, and, lots of cards from friends and family.
Also a word about birthday party #1. This was a complete surprise when Justin, Jennifer, Thais, Sophia and I visited family in Canada. At the end of our final dinner together on July 16, out came a cake, singing, and good wishes (and tears of joy). Sandi and me:
A new experience. I’ve never been to a comedy club. BarbaraL received tickets from a friend for her birthday and then couldn’t attend. Lucky me, I took her place.
We arrived early, ordered drinks and a snack, and visited. Tia, another friend of BarbaraL, joined us.
Appearing tonight: Hannah Einbinder. No photos allowed.
Aka birthday party #3 with bicycling friends. We all met at the bike/ped bridge over I-80 near Peregrine Park.

Approaching the bridge over the American River:
A detour through Old Sacramento:
There were ten of us! Great ride with good friends. Around the table from the left: Lennore, Agueda, Rachel, BarbaraL (also her birthday), Elaine, Cheryl, BarbaraB (just home from riding 263 miles in Japan), Laurie, Brenda.
Five of us rode in from N Natomas and met the SABA team at the Tree House Cafe in W Sacramento on Saturday morning.
We rode W Capitol Ave, with great bicycle lane markings, to the Yolo Causeway along I-80. Three miles of loud traffic noise on your left side.
Flat tire #1: Laurie. She had everything needed to change out the tube.
Flat tire #2 was … my bike. And I don’t carry anything to fix a flat. While the group continued on to the US Bicycling Hall of Fame, I walked to a nearby bike shop who fixed my flat tire quickly.
We all met at the train station and took the 12:43 train back to Sacramento.
Great ride! Lots of fun and we rode over 30 miles. Me, Agueda, BarbaraL, Brenda, Laurie:
Huge thanks to Pierson, Deb and Jeremiah from SABA.
