Sophia Avery Carson & Lola

Thais and Lenin went out to dinner tonight and I got to stay with the kids. Lola joined us.
Sophia and Lola created an elaborate scenario and built their own “home” surrounded by a fence. After about an hour, Avery came downstairs and said, “I’m not going to play that anymore. It’s hard being the dog.”

TGIF

at Four Seasons Westshore. They were going to cancel if no one volunteered. So I volunteered. I was lucky because another very-experienced resident was also there to help.
I set up my lap top, projector and screen and showed a looping slideshow of the Chili Cook Off and 50 Bikes for 50 Kids.
This Friday, the group was quite small. (Yay, less clean up at the end!)

50 Bikes for 50 Kids

8:30 am arrival.
The first room where everyone registered and got their t-shirt and students met their build team.
The second room was set up with 25 bike-building stations.
The first 25 students building their bikes:
Meanwhile I set up a skills course, the last step in the process.
In the afternoon, 25 more students arrived. There were two build teams from Four Seasons Westshore. My neighbors Matt & Colleen worked with a high school girl who preferred no photographs.
Ray and Lynn worked with an autistic high school boy:
The skills course had several volunteers throughout the day.

Four Seasons residents also donated $290 to 50 Bikes for 50 Kids which meant our name got onto the banner.

Conference playoffs

A Sunday afternoon of football! Yes, I sewed but I also had some fun in the kitchen. My neighbor Kathie brought me a piece of warm Cranberry Apple Cake – yum! The candied walnuts were for another neighbor Judy, a special request. 🙂
Later I took her a bowl of Walnut Mushroom Risotto:
And the Patriots and Rams are going to the Super Bowl.

Chili Cook Off

This was the 10th Annual Four Seasons Chili Cook Off tonight at Four Seasons. A popular (delicious) event, the ballroom was packed.
There were about 15 crockpots full of chili to try.
Each person got 4 small bowls for tasting, but could go back and try all of them. Four were enough for me.
There were also 4 large tables in the corners of the room with cornbread, salad, and desserts.
The 4 judges began tasting 1 1/2 hours before the event started for the rest of us. The winner:
Thank you Adrienne for going with me.!
