Saturday September 17. Thank you Jeorgianna for promoting bicycling in N Natomas – today was her Jibe photo shoot.

Today was the first Pedal Up Natomas class .. and I didn’t take a single picture – too busy teaching, I guess. Brenda was in the class, she rode to and from Inderkum HS.

MOSAC

I’ve been talking to Barbara about starting a bike riding group for employees and volunteers who work at the Museum of Science and Curiosity which opened almost a year ago.

Barbara took me on a quick tour. This museum emphasizes hands-on interactive learning.

On this map of California, Barbara held her had over the icon that would visually show the historic flood of 1850 which inundated the entire San Joaquin Valley.

There were so many amazing exhibits. I need to go back and spend more time. Barbara invited me to the pre-opening of a new movie about Humpback Whales.

Great theater. Tip: sit in the back row.

Thanks so much, Barbara, for inviting me to this preview event. L-R: Andrea, Curiosity Coordinator; Cathy, MOSAC volunteer; Barbara, Curiosity Collaborator; me.

Lunch in Grass Valley

I met Maria for lunch at Tofanelli’s – really good food. Great patio dining, but we ate inside due to the smoky skies (the Mosquito Fire).

We checked on Maria’s quite successful AirBnB in the Boston Ravine area of Grass Valley. Totally cute place.

Behind the house and down the hill is Maria’s vegetable garden. We took home tomatoes and zucchini.

After checking a few shops, we stopped for a beer at the newly redecorated Holbrooke Hotel.

In the evening, we had dinner at Chris’s house. What a great group of golfing friends who get together every Monday evening. Such a fun evening and great food. Chris, Liz, Dottie, Joanne, Maria:

Thank you, Maria, for a great getaway.

Soccer and volleyball

Saturday, Carson played at St Ignatius. Sophia and her friend DeDe helped form the tunnel:

Avery played in W Sacramento:

Sunday, Avery played volleyball at McClellan ALL day.

Carson and Thais practiced on a side court during a break:

Happy anniversary

#18 for Thais and Lenin. Phyllis (who arrived from Montana yesterday) and I watched Sophia, Avery, and Carson while Thais and Lenin went out to dinner. Carson taught Phyl how to play Guess Who.

Followed by a game of Parcheesi. Carson won. Figuring out his next move:

Merge afternoon

Thais, Carson and I went to Marcie’s house to join the LPAS team work on this year’s creation.

Today six of us cut samples of furniture fabrics into 1/8-inch strips to make fringe

while Marcie drafted a pattern. No pre-made patterns are allowed.

Carson sorted and counted the finished pieces.
