Four Seasons Westshore to Steamers
It was an 8 am start and it was a bit chilly but the rain wasn’t supposed to start until the afternoon. Three brave souls showed up and off we rode to Old Sacramento.
After a half-hour break and a little snack, we rode back. Miles = 18

The best testimonial came from Peter in an email later that day, “I think I could now find my way to Old Sac on that route, which I hope to try with a biking partner sometime soon.” Success!

Project Ride Smart
at H Allen Hight. Week 2. Monday and Tuesday were blacktop drills. Wednesday was the first day of street rides.
And then it began raining. Periodic showers but all 4 classes had some rain to deal with. My group found a skate park at Wild Rose Park that also made a fun bike path.
Ride leaders: Christy, Yolanda, Doug, Deanna, Dana, and Veronica.

Friday. Sunshine!
Mostly.
Bridgeway Island Bike Club
Stonegate Bike Club
This was our last club meeting and I wanted it to be special. Donuts before we rode, they’d each told me their favorite kind last week, but I bought a few extra. About 2 minutes before our ride was supposed to begin, there was one donut left. Christoper, “Can I have it?!!” Of course. His third donut in 15 minutes!
We didn’t ride far but were still able to practice all the skills taught over the past 10 meetings. We went to local Fire Station 45 in West Sacramento for a tour.

The boys tried to climb UP the pole while Matthew’s mother, Ina, looked on. I was so happy to have a parent along for this ride. She told me she could really see improvement in Matthew’s riding skills and knowledge.
One minute from sliding down the pole
to this. Ready to go!
Andrew, Christopher, Connor, Matthew, and Logan – THANK YOU for being in Stonegate Bike Club. I had a great time and I know you learned a lot.
When I got home, I opened this gift card.
Retirement dinner
Joann Springer invited me to her Twin Rivers Unified School District retirement dinner. 20 years ago, I hired Joann to be my assistant at Westside Charter School when it was in its earliest days. Her son Nathan was in my class. Joann went on to get promotion after promotion.
About 200 employees retired this year.

Four Seasons Westshore bike ride
May is Bike Month. I led two rides this morning for the residents where I live. Each one visited several public art installations in parks near us. I was quite happy with the turnout. The 9 am ride:
Meghalaya in the background, in front of Fire Station 43.
The 10:30 ride:
One of These Things is Not Like the Other in Witter Ranch Park:
Some people did both rides for a total of 12 miles.
