End of walnut gathering

A series of storms was over and there were many walnuts on the ground. This would be the last week of gathering.
And it wouldn’t be easy gathering. On Monday, I was there for 6 hours but only got 4 trees done. I raked leaves and piles of walnuts + leaves + dirt which I sorted through. There are at least a dozen walnuts hidden UNDER this scattering of leaves:
There are still walnuts on the trees:

Thankfully, Justin used his blower around the rest of the trees and the ground dried out a bit more. I finished on Saturday.
Grand total for 2018 = 596 pounds.

Sophia Avery Carson

I love this season. More opportunities to see the grandkids. Tonight was Thais’ company party.

We always play until all the squares on the big board are covered. I always ask, “Who’s turn is it?” It’s my turn about 25% of the time. LOL.

Thursday at Merrilyn’s

When I got to Merrilyn’s, her neighbor was there. Jo Messner! A very good friend of another dear friend, Paula in Mississippi. So, Paula quickly got this photo texted to her:
Dilled onion cheese balls rolled in various coatings and Spring rolls (from Merrilyn’s pedicurist!):
Another wonderful visit!

To Chico with Ade

It was a rainy day but still so much fun. First stop, Maisie Jane’s.
On our way to Chico State Bookstore, Ade’s alma mater.
We poked around in various shops. We have our favorites, and discovered some new ones this trip. We also had a great lunch in a new restaurant, Upper Crust Bakery.

50 Bikes for 50 Kids

Last Thursday, it was raining all day and I was feeling experimental. So I posted to the local Four Seasons Google group a message for a Pop-up Bakery/Fundraiser for 50 Bikes for 50 Kids:

Be one of the first two people to respond to this email and pledge a $20 (or more) donation to 50 Bikes for 50 Kids and this delicious home-baked yeast bread is YOURS, delivered to your door at about 4 pm (or later if you prefer). The bread was Prosciutto-Provolone Stuffed Focaccia:

It was successful but not in the way I expected. No one accepted the offer of bread … why? But I did receive donations; I matched the highest donor and sent $160 to Jibe for 50 Bikes for 50 Kids.

Sophia Avery Carson

More fun. Today I watched Sophia, Avery, and Carson. Carson is about to let Sophia know she may NOT sit on this stool:
A game of Bird Bingo of course:
Avery demonstrated how to slide a long way while also catching a self-thrown ball:
In a moment, Carson will fall over and cry for about 15 minutes:
