Catkins

The walnut trees at Justin’s are flowering.

These are catkins, the male part of the walnut tree ie. “a slim cylindrical flower cluster with inconspicuous or no petals.”

They are wind pollinators and have been known to pollinate trees a mile away. Once their job is done, they fall to the ground,

and, wah-la, baby walnuts are born.
