Thais came over to put up a few pictures this afternoon … yay! She’s much more proficient at this task than I am.
Meanwhile, there were sword fights while Lenin checked out the tv he helped me buy.

Sophia’s swim meet
Sophia’s swim practice
Sophia at swim practice – she’s about to race (and win) against her cousin Lauren in a freestyle race:
Meanwhile, in our own corner of the pool, Avery dove for rockets,
invented a new swim stroke called the Relaxed Paddle Float,
and our favorite, a launched dive. First, climb up Grandma’s legs and get into position.
1, 2, 3, Go!
Fun!
Grandma’s Cooking School: Funfetti cupcakes
Except that I pretty much did the whole recipe, from a cake mix. Sophia taste-tested the first frosted cupcakes.
Later, Carson was limited to two cupcakes. He dove in face first for the frosting, the cake part was better for mooshing.
In the end, Sophia decided Funfetti cupcakes didn’t really count for this week’s cooking school since she didn’t do very much. I agreed.
Grandma’s Cooking School: Smoothies
Thank you Lauren for being the cheerleader to get this going. Grocery list:
I will probably skip the grocery list/shopping step the next time we do this … because there is way too much stuff in the cart that has nothing to do with smoothies.
Lauren made pina colada smoothies.
Sophia made strawberry-guava which required additional sugar to be palatable and was ranked #3/3 by four taste-testers.
Avery made very berry.
Time for several games of Hide and Seek. The “it” person rode the stick horse and pressed one ear or the other to make clippity-cloppity sounds or a lot of neighing.
The places they tucked themselves into were remarkable.
Later in the afternoon, it was time for swim practice.
Behind those towels is the meanest (most hilarious) face you can imagine.

Swim practice
While Sophia is at the swim team practice, Avery gets a lot of swim practice in his corner of the pool.
He practices all the strokes including freestyle.
I like to sit at the edge with my feet in the water (it’s SO hot out there) and provide a leg to grab onto. Avery also likes to sit on both feet and be “launched.”
Sophia and Avery
This was the last week of school.
Sophia has swim practice every afternoon.
On Thursday, Avery wanted to go swimming while Sophia was at practice. He swam in one corner of lane 1.
Meanwhile, Sophia was getting a private lesson in lane 8.
Avery and I began a rotation of pools, from hot tub
to wading pool and back again.
Shopping with Lenin
I need almost everything for my new house, like a television – I need some NOISE around me, it’s too quiet! With all the new technology that I don’t understand, it was invaluable to have Lenin help me. He researched features and prices in advance and, in the store, did all the negotiating with the sales people since the prices he had on his cell phone were less than the prices in the store. The manager came to help, then other associates came to watch. Six of them at one point! It was rather amusing to watch.
Thank you Lenin!
