Autumn Craft Fair

at N Natomas Regional Park.

A cold windy day with scattered rainstorms.

Councilmember Lisa Kaplan asked if a few commissioners could attend and interact with the public. Also there, Odet Ford – Parks and Community Enrichment Commission and Ayinde Fletcher – Youth Commission.

The weather got worse, the wind wanted to move the pop-ups, the event was lightly attended and no one came to our table. Thankfully, it was over after 2 hours.

Happy Friday

I love a slow day of making a multi-step dinner. No driving or running errands. In the evening, Elaine, Terri and Steve came over. Steve made the BEST margaritas. I made chicken cream enchiladas and a Mexican vegetable rice. A fun Friday night!

SacBAC

Sacramento County Bicycle Advisory Committee. Tonight’s meeting included a “field trip” to the Sacramento County Traffic Control Center – monitored here are 500 traffic lights plus 90 in Rancho Cordova.

Doug Maas, Senior Civil Engineer, explained signalization for bicycles at intersections, ongoing upgrades, the latest technology for detecting bicycles and how it’s tested. Very interesting!

Encouraging everyone to do a good job:

Berkeley

BarbaraL (as she’s known in our ride group) needed to drop off a vehicle to her son in Berkeley. She had public transit options to get back to Sac but I gladly drove down to pick her up. Berkeley!! The location of Stone Mountain & Daughter. Be still my heart.

The BEST place to find the perfect button:

Next, we had breakfast at Homemade Cafe. My huevos rancheros were excellent.

BarbaraL went to college at UCBerkeley and was the perfect person to give a tour of the campus. Amazing buildings, architecture, so many libraries – this painting, discovered in the basement about 20 years ago, is back on display,

the house in Mary Poppins, and The Campanile – a clock bell-tower with panoramic views and carillon concerts. 307 feet tall with 61 bells.

Tuesday evening: wash fabric, get out patterns and sewing machine. I’m excited.
