50 Bikes for 50 Kids

Last Thursday, it was raining all day and I was feeling experimental. So I posted to the local Four Seasons Google group a message for a Pop-up Bakery/Fundraiser for 50 Bikes for 50 Kids:

Be one of the first two people to respond to this email and pledge a $20 (or more) donation to 50 Bikes for 50 Kids and this delicious home-baked yeast bread is YOURS, delivered to your door at about 4 pm (or later if you prefer). The bread was Prosciutto-Provolone Stuffed Focaccia:

It was successful but not in the way I expected. No one accepted the offer of bread … why? But I did receive donations; I matched the highest donor and sent $160 to Jibe for 50 Bikes for 50 Kids.

Sophia Avery Carson

More fun. Today I watched Sophia, Avery, and Carson. Carson is about to let Sophia know she may NOT sit on this stool:
A game of Bird Bingo of course:
Avery demonstrated how to slide a long way while also catching a self-thrown ball:
In a moment, Carson will fall over and cry for about 15 minutes:

Christmas craft fair

My neighbor Kathie and I went to a great craft fair early this morning. Arriving early was a very good idea. By the time we left, cars were parked over a mile away; we parked within 50 feet of the entrance!
At St John the Evangelist Catholic School in Carmichael, this craft fair was excellent (better than the Harvest Festival at Cal Expo) – every classroom, the cafeteria, the gym, outside areas were filled with vendors.
Really cute stuff, like these mice:

Thank you Linda for having all of us over. Dinner was delicious.

Picture-taking day

Thais (and Lenin) tried to take pictures for my Christmas card. Here are two of the best – out of about 50!
Later, in the evening, Thais and Sophia went to a King’s game and Lenin had a coaching clinic, so I came and stayed with the boys. After playing Beyblades for a while, Carson and I played Bird Bingo. He knows quite a few of the 64 birds, his favorites seem to be the Hoopoe and Blue-footed Booby.
