Mother’s Day

The first present. Avery wanted to show me his extra-large fort upstairs where he plays video games. I was invited inside.

Breakfast from Orphan’s (the Platas Verdes was great) and fun with everyone.

Michael Riegel Bike Ride

Michael Riegel is an artist with installations in various parts of Sacramento. Riding to each of these 4 pieces is a 24 mile loop, but we ended up riding more miles. This loop is the ride being promoted by SABA during week 3 of May is Bike Month. Pete was a good sport and let me take his picture in front of all of them. Others who do this ride will post their selfies to social media.

28 miles! It was hot by noon and I was tired. Nevertheless … girl power!

Water balloons

I’ve been working on a project for SABA – an online toolkit “Successful Bicycling at Home with Kids.” Sophia, Avery and Carson have been the subjects of all my photos. Today’s photo session:

Riding and walking

Lucy and I rode the Sacramento Northern Bike Trail. We started at Depot Park and rode to the end at Elverta Rd, then almost to Robla and back. SEVEN miles! Go Lucy.

On Wednesday, after I checked the weather and saw a N wind at 19 mph, I decided to walk, not ride. I haven’t walked in a while so I thought I could extend my usual 3 miles to something more. I decided to walk the dirt road to the west of Fisherman’s Lake Parkway. Discovery! The drainage canal almost looks like a small river.

I walked 4.7 miles! Yikes, I was tired.

Bike rides

On Wednesday Lucy and I rode a trail in Rio Linda.

On Thursday, Pete and I rode to Rio Linda, past the house I grew up in and Jim and Lucy’s, and back home along a small part of the Sacramento Northern Trail. Pete really liked riding these rural roads and being out in the country.

Today Pete and I rode downtown to take the last picture of a sculpture for a bike ride being promoted by SABA for May is Bike Month. Cyclists are supposed to visit 4 sculptures by Stephen Kaltenburg, take selfies in front of each, and post them to social media. This is my selfie in front of “Peace” at 555 Capitol Ave although this picture will only show up here because this blog is the only social media I do.

American River Parkway

Pete’s wife Suzanne came with us to William Pond Park along the American River Parkway. Suzanne drove my car home, Pete and I rode back. It was about 20 beautiful miles.

Kirk Talon

I was the 30th house in our neighborhood to receive this personal concert. So fun. The drum is called a RavVast. I encourage everyone who reads this to go to Kirk’s YouTube channel to watch more of his performances. He’s currently creating an “Isolation” series of songs. Click on this link: Kirk Talon
