Grand opening

of Kaia FIT, a gym about 3 miles from my house.

A few months ago, Tequilla took over ownership of the gym and improvements began immediately. This morning was the grand opening. The Kaia Fit founder and CEO attended along with staff and Councilmember Lisa Kaplan.

I started weight training with Elaine at the beginning of 2025. I’ve made a lot of progress. One example. In January, I could deadlift 10 lbs using dumbbells, last week I lifted 100 lbs using a barbell (lol-just once to set a personal record). Another thing I like, it takes just two hours/week: one hour with Elaine, one hour in the gym at the Lodge. There are also many other benefits, but the one I like the most is .. increased bone density. Elaine, Councilmember Lisa Kaplan, me:

Coffee with friends

In a few weeks, we’ll be off on a trip together, so this was sort of a pre-trip planning meeting with Ann, Linda and Kathy. Linda is so good at keeping track of openings in our itinerary where we could squeeze in another activity.

Ride across the Golden Gate

Great group on today’s ride. 11 riders, 10 ebikes, 5 new to this route-and they loved it. On the Larkspur ferry:

Leaving from the Ferry Building.

From the top of the first short but steep climb.

At Fort Point:

After lunch in Sausalito, we made a quick stop in Tiburon.

Great ride with great friends. 34 miles.

Volleyball

I picked up the boys from school, then took Carson to baseball practice. I decided to stay and read a book recommended by Carson – The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo. After practice we went to Sophia’s volleyball game at Christian Brothers.

To the airport

One of my favorite things to do: take people to and pick them up from the airport which is just 4 miles away. Curbside service plus free parking in front of my house. What’s not to like? Dottie and Maria were off to Colorado for a few days.

In the evening, I went to Terri’s for Steve’s excellent margaritas.

Grand opening

SABA partnered with Community Shop Class and Sierra Service Project to create Community Bike Shop, Oak Park’s new non-profit, community-driven bike repair center, training facility, and retail store. Today was the grand opening.

A fun eclectic place to explore:

A large outdoor area with a garden, huge barbecue, and pop-ups with misters.
