Dave’s Pumpkin Farm

Above: Me, Cheryl, Barbara, Terri, Dani, Rosalyn. This morning we rode about 16 miles to Dave’s Pumpkin Farm in W Sacramento … just in time for MANY school buses of school children on field trips having their lunch. Every table was taken except for one far away from the crowd in the shade of a row of trees. Perfect. I watched the bikes while the others found and bought lunch. This was my viewpoint …

which included this funny vignette. A few very young children strayed too far away from their group. They’ve just been called back. Some listen right away. The boy still looking into the trees had be called more than once. LOL.

This was such a fun ride. 32-37 miles round-trip depending on one’s route home. And, I would definitely recommend the excellent warm apple cider donuts.

Project Ride Smart

On Wednesday and Thursday mornings, I left at 7:30 am (just after sunrise!) and rode 4 miles to Westlake Charter School to help Deanna and Gina with the first day of blacktop drills.

ABCQuick Check:

After-school coaching on Wednesday. Only about 4 out of 15 need to come back for next week’s after-school coaching.

Huevos Rancheros

The only time we could have a special breakfast together was dinner on Monday night at Jim and Lucy’s. I made the special sauce (which took a couple of days) and tomato relish. Everyone else brought the condiments, tortillas, and Jimmy’s donuts. Archie and Sandy, Collie and Cindy, Jerry and Lupita, Jerry and Laura, Trish, Jim and Nicki.

There were two more tables to the side with a camp stove to cook on and a place with the food. After frying the corn and flour tortillas, Lucy and I made either scrambled eggs or over-easy. Jim was the bartender for the cooks – thank you!

Update on the kitchen remodel: it’s finished as of today!

Jump

Cindy didn’t feel well, so Elaine came to the play Jump at B Street Theater with Terri and I. We went to brunch first at Paragary’s – a table on the patio.

The welcome before the play starts:

Saddle Up Saturday

This morning, I rode toward Agueda’s house, then we rode to Jackrabbit Trail, and finally Bella Bru where we met Brenda, Paul, and Laurie for breakfast. This place is great for bicycle parking because the bikes can be parked nearby, no locking up needed.

During the month of October, if you ride a bike to a restaurant in the Jibe service area and spend $10, you will receive a $15 gift card to Raley’s/BelAir – both major grocery stores in N Natomas.

Kenny Loggins

Lucky me. The person Maria planned to go this concert with had to cancel. I was the lucky person who got to take her place. Not being a gambler in any sense of the word, this was my first time inside Thunder Valley Casino. LOTS of machines, table, and people. We had to walk across the casino, first to get to Red Lantern to have dinner, then to the doors and the entrance to where the concert was located. Leaving the casino area:

Turn around and you see the entrance the The Venue:

Richard Marx opened the show:

Thank goodness for the gigantic screens. Kenny Loggins:

So much fun!! Thank you Maria for inviting me.

Grandparents Day

at St Ignatius. Stop #1, the cafeteria where all the classes came to be picked up by attending grandparents or special friends.

Then everyone walked to attend Mass.

Three sets of brothers conspired to all sit together at Mass. L-R: Max, Grayson, Avery, Carson, Zane, Hudson, and Margaret. Max and Zane are brothers, their grandparents Lupe and Joe sat at the other end of our pew. Grayson and Hudson are brothers, Margaret is their “Oma.”

After mass, we visited the 2nd and 6th grade classrooms and signed the boys out for the day.

We all went to lunch at Leatherby’s .. which has a game room.

Final final birthday celebration

with Terri and Elaine at Ella Dining Room & Bar.

Parmesan risotto, salmon, squash relish – excellent of course.

Malted vanilla ice cream sundae: vanilla ice cream with chocolate mousse, cherries peanut brittle, cooke crumble, fudge sauce – beyond excellent.

Thank you friends for a wonderful birthday celebration.
