Super Bowl babies

I watched the Super Bowl with Justin at his house and made terrific pulled pork nachos – a good blog post but superseded by even better news. Maria’s daughter Leslie had her third child today – a boy named Liam. Congratulations!img_2649Not to be outdone, Justin also had a baby today!20170205_140212Maria and I had the SAME due dates for our first-borns, August 10 1975. Leslie was born one week early, Justin was born four weeks late.

Thursday at Merrilyn’s

Delicious food!!! Baked brie with cranberry sauce and walnuts AND Brown-sugared bacon-wrapped pineapple. I’m smiling at the wine glasses. From left to right: Arlete with a medium amount of ice, Phyllis with mostly ice, and Merrilyn with NO ice. And that’s how we roll.dsc04770Dessert – Chocolate caramel macadamia nut tart – incredibly wonderful.dsc04773For those who have been asking (thank you, faithful blog readers!), here’s the green fringe vest:dsc04776Thank you Merrilyn for hosting this always-fun get-together!

Bike Hikers Awards Banquet

169 people attended this event at Hilton Sacramento Arden West.dsc04763The top three riders were all women and rode over 10,000 miles with Bikers Hikers in 2016. Awards were also given to ride leaders, like Kathy Wright who was at our table:dsc04761Lots of raffle prizes, this one was amazing:dsc04759

Lunch with Ade

I had an appointment in Adrienne’s general vicinity, so I offered to drive her on a couple of errands. Afterwards, we had lunch at Mooyah’s. I love trying new places, this one specialized in burgers – one of my favorites. Note: no more walker, just a cane!dsc04754

Bike ride

I have not been on a bike since Nov 18, the date of my crash. I was nervous. I put it off all morning and finally forced myself to GO! in the early afternoon. After a few miles of wanting to turn around, I was able to stretch it to 15 miles. Getting back in the saddle after a crash is not easy.dsc04740

Career day

At St Ignatius, you dress up as your career choice. Avery was a paleontologist and I’m sure his specialty would be finding dinosaur fossils. Sophia was a pop star. She told me a couple of other students came as singers. Just singers actually. A pop star is different. You have to have style and attitude to be a pop star.fullsizerender-1

Church and open house

dsc04689After church, there was open house. But first a stop at the cousin Jeffery’s fundraising table – every 8th grader adopts a charity and raises money during the school year. Jeffery’s is the First Tee Program. dsc04691Avery’s TK classroom.dsc04693dsc04694dsc04695Sophia’s second grade classroom.dsc04698Sophia’s 8th grade buddy is Desi, who is also a neighbor.dsc04700
