NAHBS

North American Handmade Bicycle Show at the Sacramento Convention Center. I helped with the SABA’s bike valet early Saturday morning.
Within a couple of hours, we had no more room.
Then we got a free pass to get into the show.

… and many more.

Thursday at Merrilyn’s

Neither of us was particularly thrilled with what we made this month. I was so busy that I thought I would try some pricey frozen appetizers from the grocery store – disappointing – the Brazilian cheese bread might have been better if we’d eaten them right out of the oven. Merrilyn made artichoke cheese squares. I thought they were great (especially compared to what I brought).
Getting together is always the best part.

Baby Shower

Long story, amazing ending. Kara works at the front desk at the lodge. She is expecting her first child and saw a fabric baby carrier cover on Etsy she really liked, but it cost $50. She didn’t mind the cost but wondered if she could get one made by someone in our quilter’s group. Jane coordinates our group, she sent out the word. Carol Cota volunteered, Kara selected Marvel comics fabric as her theme. I asked Carol to give me the scraps and I made a fabric basket and 3 nesting zippered pouches:
Then the word got out and other residents wanted to contribute. A few weeks later, $1100 had been added. Today was a very informal baby shower and .. Kara was quite surprised.

Stonegate Bike Club

Back to last Wednesday. There was another bike club at Bridgeway Island Elementary in West Sacramento. Again, we didn’t know if anyone would show up. We got 6 kids at Stonegate. How many would show up here? Uhhh .. 25. And it was raining buckets! We met in a PE classroom and I winged it. Taking pictures? Maybe next time.

Today was Week 2 at Stonegate. This is a fun group. Smaller class size = get more done!

L-R: Andrew, Connor, Logan, Matthew, Christopher, Naia

TGIF at Four Seasons

Two of my neighbors and I hosted a TGIF at the lodge this evening, but there were “technical difficulties”. Hosting was still fun but our real TGIF will happen in two weeks. Attendance was minimal.
My next-door neighbors Matt and Colleen:

Sophia Avery Carson

I watched Sophia and Avery after school today and played with Carson after he got home. Then it was time to play outside with Dad.
And then the ball hit his hand, and it really hurt, the tears started, then he had to explain things to Mom.

Stonegate Bike Club

This week, two bike clubs in West Sacramento began. On Tuesdays, Stonegate. This is a beautiful new school. Rain threatened but didn’t materialize, but it was cold and windy.
Until today, we weren’t sure if this bike club would happen. Would kids show up? Yes, four students!
