Better on Bikes
The final Zoom meeting #6.
Westlake Bike Club
Tuesday. It was hot so we shortened the ride a bit. The first water stop had a wonderful surprise water feature.
Thursday. Our final club meeting. Getting ready to leave.
First stop, Natomas Regional Park with the water feature which no one used because the temperatures are much cooler. Playground equipment was more appealing.
Second stop, Wild Rose Park. Riding here was optional.
Back at school, we had ice cream cones and gave feedback to Mellissa from Jibe. A very successful first-ever after-school bike club. Lots of riding because students had taken Project Ride Smart.

Better on Bikes 4 is almost over. Today we met at Wild Rose Park for lunch and a tire change demo by Mellissa.
Tee ball
The end of the season is near. Skills have really improved.

Westlake Bike Club
Tuesday. Mr Mallove gave a brief tutorial to teach pumping up tires to the correct psi.
It was a hot day.
Thursday.
Project Ride Smart
at H Allen Hight, week 2. Monday. The fleet of 40 bicycles is stored in a shipping container – out every morning and jigsaw-puzzled back five hours later.
Tuesday. First day of street rides. I had the green group. In the back, Pierson and Becky who are training to teach Project Ride Smart.
Wednesday. Day 2 street ride. Charlie leading the green group:
Thursday. Last day of instruction and day 3 street ride. Mellissa leading a right turn at an uncontrolled intersection.
Safe travels
Time for Phyl to travel south to visit her sister in Bakersfield – by train.
This was the pre-dawn start to my busiest day of May-is-Bike-Month. Ahead: Project Ride Smart at H Allen Hight all morning, Westlake Bike Club in hottest part of the afternoon, and Zoom meeting #5 for Better on Bikes in the evening. Friday will be a complete day off – hurray!
