Challenging project

For the last few weeks, I’ve been relearning some dormant sewing skills. I haven’t made formal wear in over 30 years, but now I’m at the beginning of making a prom dress. The prom hasn’t been scheduled yet, but I need to start now .. as in, what if this doesn’t turn out well and Sophia needs to shop for a dress at the last minute. After the pattern arrived, I traced the pieces needed according to her measurements, found some fabric in a drawer that would work, and sewed a “muslin” – a practice garment to check the fit.

The muslin fit great. Next, order fabric. So far, so good.

January 1 bike ride

Even though rain was predicted, I led a Jibe ride on New Year’s Day. The first surprise was a photojournalist from KOVR Channel 13 was at the meet-up location at Peregrine Park. He interviewed me and Jim. There was a clip on the evening news!

Eight of us started out but a low battery and a flat tire shortly into the ride caused two people to drop out early. We had rain at the beginning and end but a good dry middle section.

My rain cape worked really well. 34 miles. A good start to a new year.
