Dinner for Santa

Every year Santa Larry comes in early to accommodate our bike group. This year I decided to say thank you by bringing him and his helper, BarbaraL, a hot home-cooked meal for dinner. The hardest part was finding parking in Old Sacramento.

Dinner needed to be served like we were camping, so I brought individual servings of turkey tetrazzini, salad and cookies. BarbaraL closed the door at 6:30 and we had one hour before the crowd would want to get in to see Santa.

Chicken N Waffles ride

Jibe organized another 50% off if you ride your bike to a local restaurant. I led this one. Our starting group – Laurie, Henry, Milan, Lori, Brenda, Kimberly – however note how Kimberly is standing. She fell while standing over her bike and twisted her left ankle. We loaded her bike back onto the car and she drove home.

This little tree on Redbud Trail is decorated monthly by someone unknown.

Ride to see Santa

This is a fun annual ride thanks to BarbaraL who is Santa’s helper at the Old Eagle Theater in Old Sac for about 4 weeks every holiday season. Today, she was not scheduled to work and was able to ride with us. Another foggy cold day (our third week with no sunshine).

BarbaraL, Hal, Becky, Brenda, Charlie, Greg, Hector, Milan, Brad, Sandi:

Santa came in a bit early to be ready for us – so kind of him. In through the side door

and through the building to the near front door.

Thank you Santa Larry and BarbaraL. Everyone enjoys this annual ride.

Pops Chorale

Linda and Ann invited me to go with them to the Harris Center on Sunday afternoon to see the Pops Chorale holiday performance.

Two of the regular people who usually attend couldn’t make it. Ann, Stephanie (Linda’s daughter-in-law), Linda:

A small world connection: Becky (a bicycle friend who also helps gather, crack and shell walnuts) and husband Charlie work behind the scenes with managing the business side of the Pops Chorale. Excellent performance.

Bicycle Networking

For four years, the first Friday in December was Arlete’s BIG year-end party. I made large posters with cycling achievements and insisted on making all the appetizers. Arlete’s BIG ended: no more weekly emails or tracking everyone’s miles .. every day .. all year long. This year, everyone brought something to share – what a relief. One thing stayed the same: the refrigerator was stocked with Fat Tire. I love my bicycle friends!
