Flag football and a birthday party

Carson at Christian Brothers scoring a touchdown.

Carson thought I would enjoy reading the book his 3rd grade class just finished. Excellent recommendation.

Sunday evening, we got together to celebrate Avery’s 13th birthday.

Leo is a freshman at Jesuit, Lauren is a freshman at University of Nevada Reno, Brooklyn is in 2nd grade at St Francis of Assisi.

The Pops Chorale

BarbaraL and I met Becky and Charlie, their daughter and son-in-law, and Becky’s sister and husband for dinner at Cafe Bernardo. Beautiful evening, open windows, light breeze.

We walked to the other end of the block for the 7pm show of The Pops Chorale and Orchestra at the Sofia/B St Theater.

Thanks Becky for inviting me to attend. Great performance.

Happy birthday

One of our bike buddies – Paul – had a 70th birthday party. Paul, Edith (Brenda’s mother), Brenda, Laurie, Martine, Lori, Jim:

Paul, with wife Emmy, gave a short thank-you speech before the cake was cut. Emmy made the most delicious spread of food, including a couple of my favorites: lumpia and pancit.

County and City meetings

On Wednesday evening, the County of Sacramento held a Boards, Commission, Committees & Councils Appreciation Training in the Board Chambers downtown. There are 88 of these in the County – I’m on SacBAC (Bicycle Advisory Committee). It was one of the better Brown Act trainings I’ve been to.

On Thursday evening, I was at the Active Transportation Commission meeting for the City of Sacramento. Hurray, we finalized and voted on our Annual Report one month before it was due.

Carson and Avery

While I consider myself to be a pretty good cook, it took me a few times to prepare the perfect bowl of ramen instant noodles for Carson. A perfect bowl means you must pour off ALL of the broth and add 3 ice cubes:

Ciclodova

Wearing my Love to Ride “hat”, I went to a closed-street festival in Rancho Cordova to promote Biketober.

Surprise! Kathy, a close friend of cousin Phyliss who now lives in Montana, stopped by after a Bike Hikers ride:

By the end of the 4-hour festival, I signed up 24 people for Biketober. Success.
