Half-birthday

On Monday it was Carson’s 8 1/2 birthday. He asked for a game called Hydro Strike. Shoot a small yellow ball at your opponent, defend and shoot with paddles. If the ball strikes the center position just right, a little squirt of water is received in the face.

Good idea to keep a towel nearby.

SABA Social Ride

Brenda, Laurie, and I left early in the morning to meet at 8:30 at The Mill near CSUS for this month’s SABA Social Ride.

Our arborist/cyclist and ride leader Pierson.

American River Bike Trail:

We stopped several times to learn more about the trees along the trail.

Great ride Pierson. 39+ miles for Laurie, Brenda and me.

Streets for People

Laurie and I met a team of people from the City of Sacramento to do a walking workshop north of the regional park on Saturday morning. We learned a lot about available options to make walking and biking safer and gave our input about what’s needed in N Natomas.

After the walk, we went to the Farmers Market. The City also had a table here seeking input from residents.

Councilmember Lisa Kaplan:

Cover Your Assets

I spent a few hours with Sophia, Avery and Carson on Thursday. No sports camps this week. We went out to pick up lunch. While inching forward in the drive-through fast food line, I checked my phone and got quite the surprise. “Well, you guys are going to be the first ones to hear some pretty amazing news. I’m going to be a great-grandma.” You could see the wheels turning in their heads – who? They decided it had to be their cousin Kellen. After we finished our various lunches we played a couple of rounds of Cover Your Assets. Carson won first, then Avery.

Sophia said she had a picture on her phone of her, Kellen and Odin and sent it to me:

Thursday at Merrilyn’s

on Tuesday. We were on the same appetizer wavelength again – jumbo lump crab meat. Crabcakes with aioli and Coastal Carolina frittatas with aioli.

Usually we run out of things to share after a couple of hours. Today, it took three fun hours!
