Family Science Night

An annual event at St Ignatius. Parents, friends, teachers, and the robotics clubs at Jesuit and St Francis come together to share the excitement of STEM careers.

Using kinetic green sand, rocks, water (blue strips), walkways (gray strips), sticks and blocks, small trees and bushes, students were invited to design a park.

City Council meeting

Tuesday evening, I arrived early for the 5:00 City Council meeting. Everyone who attends passes through security.

The Girl Scouts were first up for a special presentation followed by a photo op:

Our item was pulled from the consent agenda to allow for more robust public comment. There were 43 online comments and about 10 people who made in-person comments. There were a few disruptions by a rather large loud group – who wanted the City Council to pass a resolution advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza. At one point a 15-minute recess was called which helped to calm things down. The ATC report and Councilmember comments were almost complete when things really erupted and the Council meeting was abruptly adjourned.

The above picture was taken early on in the meeting. After that, I didn’t feel comfortable taking more photos. Increasing numbers of police began to arrive. A protest was growing outside the building. Yes, time to adjourn and go home. After 3 hours, our item almost passed, but not quite.

Rise and Shine

I’m trying to woo businesses in Yuba and Sutter Counties to participate in May is Bike Month .. so I left home really early (for a retired person who likes to sleep in) to drive to Marysville to attend the Rise & Shine get-together in Marysville. This month, it was located at the CASA office – Court Appointed Special Advocates. A CASA volunteer advocates for the well-being of a child in foster care.

A few words from the host, explaining what CASA does in the Yuba Sutter area.

A raffle at the end. Winners: a bunny for the man in the blue shirt, a candle to the man in the black hat.

Then it was a drive back to Sacramento for a 10 am staff meeting.

Crab Feed

The answer is (of course) “Yes! I can spend a few hours with the boys” while Thais and Lenin go to a crab feed. We met at Carson’s Little League game.

Once we were home, it wasn’t very exciting ..

until it was time for a basketball game.

Eventually that chandelier will come down.

Joy Project Dedication Ceremony

Thursday evening at the bicycle statue in N Natomas Regional Park on N Park Dr. Everyone whose picture is on a banner was invited including:
