Soccer Saturday

Carson did great today.

He made three of the five goals and promptly told his mom after the game that three goals = $15. Mom let him know that deal was only good for the first soccer game to generate enthusiasm.

Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm

Six of us met at Sammie’s in Nicolaus and rode the long way (17 miles) to Bishop’s. Extremely popular the closer it gets to the end of October, we decided to go early on a weekday, hoping to avoid bus loads of students on field trips.

There is a lot to see and do, but we homed in on Mrs. B’s Bakery before it got crowded. Everything is delicious. A couple of us had a very small pumpkin pie for brunch.

On the way back, a stop at Salle Family Orchards:

13-mile ride back to Sammie’s. Beautiful weather, fun ride, good friends. A perfect day.

Bike-related meetings

Wednesday: Sacramento County Bicycle Advisory Committee

The proposed bicycle infrastructure for a new development just south from where I live. We ride Garden Highway frequently.

Thursday evening: Active Transportation Commission at City Hall.

Happy Birthday

A perfect day with late afternoon surprise visits from Justin and Lucy (with champagne!) which, later, meant I couldn’t go to Meatball Monday with Elaine. Also many messages from cousins in Canada and across the US, and, lots of cards from friends and family.

Also a word about birthday party #1. This was a complete surprise when Justin, Jennifer, Thais, Sophia and I visited family in Canada. At the end of our final dinner together on July 16, out came a cake, singing, and good wishes (and tears of joy). Sandi and me:

Punch Line Comedy Club

A new experience. I’ve never been to a comedy club. BarbaraL received tickets from a friend for her birthday and then couldn’t attend. Lucky me, I took her place.

We arrived early, ordered drinks and a snack, and visited. Tia, another friend of BarbaraL, joined us.

Appearing tonight: Hannah Einbinder. No photos allowed.

Lunch at Selland’s

Aka birthday party #3 with bicycling friends. We all met at the bike/ped bridge over I-80 near Peregrine Park.

A detour through Old Sacramento:

There were ten of us! Great ride with good friends. Around the table from the left: Lennore, Agueda, Rachel, BarbaraL (also her birthday), Elaine, Cheryl, BarbaraB (just home from riding 263 miles in Japan), Laurie, Brenda.
