October

Time to say goodbye to the birthday season. The final celebration was at Terri’s on Saturday evening. Thank you Terri for thinking of me on your recent trip and the gift of Klimt-inspired earrings.

I brought guacamole and chips, Elaine and Tyson came by, and Steve made the BEST margaritas … which may explain why I forgot to take a picture of our group .. lol.

Hello October!

Busy Saturday

Sophia had a CB volleyball tournament, Lenin drove Avery to his football game, Carson had soccer, Thais had to prep for a social event later in the afternoon. Yay, I got to spend time with Carson.

Dog-wrestling, whether Charlie wants to or not.

The goalie missed the ball as it headed toward the goal, but Carson swept in from the side and kicked it away. A round of applause from the crowd.

Thursday @ Merrilyn’s

Tomato tart and a bacon cheese dip from Ellie’s Marie’s with potato chips.

Merrilyn always sends me home with some leftovers, the tomato tart was as delicious cold as it was warm. This time, I also took home a container of Italian Wedding Soup (Ina Garten’s recipe) – so delicious. Thank you Merrilyn.

Heather Fargo @ FSW

Heather Fargo, resident of S Natomas, former City Councilmember, Mayor of Sacramento 2000-2008, came to Four Seasons Westshore to share information about the remaining 8000 acres of farmland left in the Natomas Basin. Warehouse projects are being proposed on the south side of I-5 and very close to the Westlake and Westshore neighborhoods. There is a push to preserve the farmland as part of the Nature Conservancy and to force warehouses and huge semi-truck EV charging stations to north of I-5, closer to the airport where many other warehouses exist, are being built, or are in various stages of planning.

Edith and Heather:

Edith and Susan (sitting behind the table) did a great job planning this presentation and working with FSW staff to prepare the room and equipment.

This was supposed to be our last class, but there’s still more support to be given. Next Tuesday will be our third and final. Special thanks to Kathy and Lennore who generously volunteered their time and are excellent coaches.

Old Greenwood

The birthday celebrations continued in the late afternoon on Sunday. I drove up to Maria and Tim’s vacation home at Old Greenwood, just north of Truckee. Five years ago, I celebrated my 70th birthday with a week-long rental with friends and family. This year, two friends, one more birthday party. On Monday, we went to Truckee, shopped a bit especially at my favorite jewelry store,

and then had a drink and snack at

Austin, owner, who is also a friend of Daniel, Tim’s son.

Greg, Marcela, and family drove up Monday evening. Tim came home from his trip to see a Dodgers game. Tim grilled tri-tip, Maria made a great salad, and Monday Night Football and too much fun visiting with everyone. Tuesday morning, time to drive home. Greg and Marcela, Amelia and Breanna Rose.

Due to a miscommunication, we arrived rather late. Many people had already left. Visiting was more important than eating. So, afterwards, we went to dinner at Mas Fuego.

Lucky me. Before he left, he changed my air filters. Thanks DQ.
