Jim and Lucy

Our favorite dinner together. Pizza and salad, I pick it up and drive to Jim and Lucy’s. Tonight, our visit was during a kitchen renovation.

I think I may need to come back with some “after” pictures. Fun visit with Jim and Lucy.

Across the Golden Gate

A weekend ride. Elaine and I drove to the Larkspur Ferry Terminal.

San Quentin:

Coffee stop:

On the weekend, bikes cross the Golden Gate on the ocean side. Pedestrians are on the bay side.

Windy, cold, and a bit foggy.

We had lunch in Sausalito then rode on toward Tiburon.

Climbing up from Tiburon and headed back to the Larkspur Ferry Terminal.

Thank you Elaine for a great ride. So much fun. 33 miles.

Bike Doc

at The Club at Natomas Park. I signed up at the last minute to be the receptionist at Jibe’s Bike Doc this morning. 4 mechanics (Robert, Dennis, Rob, Ken) repaired 45 bikes. 90% of the people who had an online appointment showed up, which meant many walk-ups had to be turned away. The no-show rate has been as high as 50%, walk-ups had a better chance at getting a bike repaired.

Thank you Dennis for spending a very long time assembling a brand new trike – a birthday present from two daughters to their mother hoping she will become more active.

“Grandma, can you fold your ear three times?” I tried but never passed Carson’s inspection. Then he showed me how it’s done: fold the lobe up, top down, side in. This was followed by a comparison of 74-year-old ear cartilage (larger, thicker, somewhat bendable) v 7-year old ear cartilage (small, thin, supple). The result: “Ready for a board game?” Sure. LOL.

SABA Social Ride

We met, not at Chocolate Fish-the sunny side of the street, but rather in front of shady Marie’s Donuts (great donuts btw).

I rode in from N Natomas with Coletha, Diana, and BarbaraB:

Pierson welcoming everyone:

We rode to W Sacramento where the Sycamore Trail will be extended southward with a bike/pedestrian bridge over I-80.

Looking through a gap in the fence:

We crossed to the other side of I-80 using Westacre Rd. This bridge should be finished by fall 2024.

The group made their way to the Clark Branch Trail then to Lenise’s Cafe. The temperatures were climbing so we broke off early to head back to N Natomas. A very good 32-mile ride for BarbaraB and me.

On Thursday, I found a game I could win at.

Canada – postscript

At one of our gatherings, Ruth brought some pictures from her album. One of them was quite special. My brother Doug, maybe 17 years old, with my cousin Julie on the back of his motorcycle. My mother’s youngest sister, Eleanor, and family had come from Saskatchewan to visit.

About 55 years later, here is the little girl on the back of the motorcycle, Julie, with granddaughters Riley and Ella.
